I am a proud gay man who celebrates my 30th anniversary with my husband in 2026. We moved to Ipswich in December 1999 when we bought our first home in North Booval. Finally out of rental properties we bought our first two English Staffordshire terriers, and continue to have Staffies as our 'children'.
I also have an interest in chickens and over the past decade have been breeding Araucana chickens developing lines with intense blue eggs.
Prior to becoming a driver trainer, my career was a Biomedical Scientist working in primarily metabolic and pharmaceutical research at the University of Queensland. In this role I trained higher degree students and junior staff in a mentorship relationship. Due to development of autoimmune diseases, after 21 years, I moved into Quality Assurance roles in the food industry for 10 years (Dairy Farmers and Asahi Schweppes)
Further deterioration of my health led me to investigate a new career choice. As I throughly enjoy teaching in a mentorship relationship and have always enjoyed manual car driving, I investigated Driver Training. I undertook training and once certified found Ipswich ProDrive to be a highly respected Driving School in Ipswich, Queensland and Australia. Always wanting to be the best at what I do and work for the best Driving School I sought a position as a subcontracted Driver Trainer with ProDrive.
I began training drivers in my manual 6 Speed Nissan Pulsar in 2017. I am now training in 2025 Hyundai Venue SUV/wagon, which I, a big guy, fit comfortably and have plenty of room.
I have a strong focus on safe driving which requires attentive and observant drivers. I train students not to just pass a test but to be great safe courteous drivers who are knowledgeable about the road rules and I hope will have long years of safe motoring.
Learning to control a car (manual or automatic) is only the first skill to learn, active observation is a skill we all must practice daily.
I have had excellent rapport with students and their supervisors (who I welcome to join us during lessons). I adjust my teaching style for each individual and have been very successful in getting even the most highly anxious students a manual licence.
I have EFT (tap and pay) in car.
